Our Services

Client Advisor

Clients are key duty holders in construction projects. For commercial projects Clients are held accountable for influencing project management and must meet all duties prescribed within the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the Building Regulations 2010. Our primary purpose is to support the Client in relation to management of both Health and Safety and compliance with the relevant requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022.

From appointment we guide Clients in:

  • The preparation of the Client brief
  • Ensuring suitable arrangements for managing a project including the allocation of time and other resources.
  • Assisting the Client in ensuring these arrangements are maintained and reviewed throughout the project.
  • Ensuring sufficient pre-design and pre-construction information is obtained and circulated appropriately.
  • Ensuring all appointed duty holders comply with relevant legalisation and coordinate with each other.
  • Assist in the selection of appointing competent Designers and Contractors
  • Ensuring that Health, Safety and the Building Regulations are fully considered during the design phase, construction phase, and when the structure is in use.

Principal Designer CDM

The role of the Principal Designer is pivotal within the framework of CDM 2015. The role of advisor to the Principal Designer exists to provide advice and support to Architects or other lead designers who take on the Principal Designer role.

The Principal Designer advisory role supports and assists the Principal Designer with legal duties as prescribed in the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Our approach ensures a methodical pragmatic approach to the management of foreseeable risks

This includes:

  • The coordination of health and safety matters throughout the pre-construction / design phase of a project.
  • Plan, manage and monitor the pre-construction / design phase to ensure the project is carried out with minimum risk to safety or health.
  • Work with the client team to consider the general principles of prevention.
  • Identify and eliminate or control of foreseeable risks to the health or safety of any person affected by the project. 
  • Collate and provide the project team with preconstruction information.
  • Liaise with the principal contractor and share relevant information.
  • Facilitating effective communication between designers and contractors,
  • Assist the Principal contractor in the preparation of the construction phase plan.
  • Prepare and collate information for the project health and safety file.
  • Maintaining a design risk register that records have risks have been addressed.

Principal Designer Building Regulations

The Building Regulations Principal Designer (BR PD) is a pivotal role introduced by the Building Regulations etc. (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2023. Effective from 1 October 2023, the Principal Designer role is mandatory for all construction projects where the Building Regulations apply.

Tasked with planning, managing, and monitoring the design phase, we will assist the Principal Designer to:

  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure the design work complies with the relevant regulations.
  • Take all reasonable steps to provide enough information about the design, construction and maintenance of the building to assist the client, other designers and contractors to comply with all relevant requirements.
  • Coordinate the design work so that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure that if built the building work will comply with the relevant requirements.
  • Ensure all designers cooperate with the client and each other.
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure all person involved with design work comply with their duties under the Regulations. 
  • Liaise with the principal contractor and share any information relevant to the coordination  of building work for the purpose of ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Consider any comments provided by the principal contractor relating to compliance with the relevant regulations.
  • Maintain a register of compliance with relevant regulations.


Inspections and Auditing

We carry out comprehensive compliance audits utilising GoReport with the objective to assess and verify the implementation of health and safety procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements for a business or organisation and their workplaces, including construction sites.

Our auditing process include:

  • Regulatory and system focused.
  • A review of processes, procedures and policies.
  • Analise systems and processes to identify underlying risks and improvement opportunities.
  • The preparation of documentation as agreed.
  • The process will conclude with a formal report and prioritised compliance actions.
  • Inclusive of collaboration among team members.

Our workplace inspections are based on a snapshot in time focusing on hazards and physical conditions witnessed at the time of the inspection. Workplace inspections are undertaken at agreed routine intervals and include:

  • Observing behaviours and physical conditions.
  • Assist with non-compliant matters during the inspection.
  • Provide commendation where compliance is achieved.
  • Examination of equipment.
  • Identifying training requirements.
  • Provision of a conformity report.
